The Love of Changing Seasons

Fall is Hunter gatherer season

My dabbling back into a salmon fishery has re-ignited my passions for GATHERING. Cooking has been a big part of the enjoyment. It has given those of us that are emersed into the whole gathering and enjoying the fruits of fresh labor a chance to show off. Some of our guests took it to a very high level. My favorite was fresh Tuna. Although not from Washington it competed well right in with the Moose burger and Chantrel’s!

Short fast season

With an October 1st start and November finish this season might last 40 days. It will offer up low water one day and high water 4x the next.
This fishery is so diverse, with early season being low water easy fly fishing to high water gear fishing with spinners. In between we catch them any way you want except floats w/o bait don’t seem to work for fresh Salmon and the chinook egg fishery is not attractive to me YET!

Next up: the hunter

the next blog I will be reviewing guideline rods, Spey and single hand 5 to 9 wt.
